A Trip to the Historic Pearl in San Antonio

San Antonio is just a skip, hop, and a 1.5 hour car ride from Austin, I don’t know why we don’t make the journey more often. There’s so much to see and do. On my birthday last year, (YES, that is how long I’ve been meaning to put this post up), we headed to the Historic Pearl site in San Antonio.

It’s the site of the old Pearl Brewery, and now there’s a fancy hotel, shops, and many delicious restaurants. We went on a Wednesday, so it was pretty quiet, but perfect for just wandering around. We parked, then wandered around before heading to Southerleigh where we were grabbing lunch.

And OMG, scroll down for photos, but lunch was delicious. Josh had the snapper throats, which were a fun dish. I had THE BEST HAMBURGER OF MY LIFE. It was so juicy and had a bacon jam of some sort. For dessert, we had a coffee creme brulee. Incredible.

After lunch, we wandered around the grounds, peeping into some of the shops. We found our way to the Sternewirth bar and Josh ordered a tasty cocktail. We relaxed there for awhile before heading back to Austin.

Such a fun day, such a good birthday. We need to do it all again.

Especially that burger.
