Equipment

Ingredients

For the filling

  • 2 apples peeled, cored
  • 1 cup cranberries
  • cup white granulated sugar
  • 2 Tablespoons flour
  • ½ teaspoon ground cinnamon
  • ¼ teaspoon ground nutmeg
  • 2 Tablespoons melted butter
  • cooking spray

For the crisp topping

  • ¾ cup old fashioned oats
  • ½ cup chopped pecans optional
  • ¼ cup brown sugar
  • ¼ cup flour
  • 4 Tablespoons butter room temperature

Instructions

  • Take the butter out of the refrigerator to soften.
  • To a large bowl, add white granulated sugar, flour, cinnamon, and nutmeg. Stir to combine.
  • Peel and core apples. Dice into pieces ½ inch thick. Add to the bowl of sugar mixture. Add cranberries to the bowl.
  • Melt 2 tablespoons butter and add to the apples and cranberries. Stir to combine with the sugar until apples and cranberries are coated in the sugar mixture.
  • Grease 4 ramekins with cooking spray. Spoon the apple cranberry mixture into the ramekins, dividing among the ramekins.
  • Place ramekins in the air fryer basket. Air fry at 350 degrees F for 10 minutes.
  • While apples and cranberries cook, make the crisp topping. Add the flour, oats, brown sugar, softened butter, and chopped pecans to a medium bowl. Mix together with a fork, cutting through the butter to incorporate into the other ingredients.
  • Spoon the crisp topping over the ramekins, pressing down on the apples and cranberries if needed.
  • Air fry at 300 degrees F for 10 minutes, until crisp topping is browned and cooked.

Notes

  • The butter needs to be room temperature to incorporate it properly into the oat mixture for the crisp topping.
  • I used 6 oz ramekins for the recipe. However, you could also use 8 oz or 10 oz ramekins.
  • The apples and cranberries will cook down slightly while cooking, making more room in the ramekins for the crumble topping.
  • Want a tart, more cranberry-forward dessert? Swap the amounts of cranberries and apples and instead use 1 apple and 2 cups cranberries.
