Blood Orange Salmon

Blood orange salmon is a flavorful dish that is easy to make. The salmon can be ready in 15 minutes start to finish.

Ingredients

  • 6 ounce salmon fillet
  • 1 blood orange
  • 1 Tablespoon soy sauce or tamari
  • 1 teaspoon honey
  • ¼ teaspoon garlic powder
  • 2 teaspoons olive oil
  • salt
  • pepper

Instructions

  • In a small bowl, combine the juice from the blood orange, soy sauce, honey, and garlic powder. Stir to combine.
  • Pat the salmon dry with paper towels. Remove the skin if needed. Season with salt and pepper.
  • Heat oil in a small skillet over medium heat. When oil is hot, add salmon to the skillet and cook 3-4 minutes. Flip and cook and additional 2-3 minutes. (Note: may need to cook longer depending on thickness and desired level of doneness of salmon).
  • Reduce heat to medium-low. Add the blood orange sauce to the pan and cook an additional 1-2 minutes.
  • Plate the salmon with the sauce served over the top.

Notes

  • Salmon cook time will depend on your thickness of salmon and your stove. Adjust cooking times as needed.
  • If you want, save a couple of slices of blood orange for topping the salmon before juicing the rest!
  • This recipes serves 1, but can easily be doubled, tripled, or quadrupled.
