Ingredients

  • 1 cup sugar
  • 1 cup water
  • ½ teaspoon ground cinnamon

Instructions

  • Into a small or medium pot, add all the ingredients.
  • Stir together, then bring to a boil, stirring occasionally.
  • Reduce heat to a simmer over medium-low heat. Simmer for 10-15 minutes, stirring occasionally until sugar is dissolved and mixture has slightly thickened.
  • Let cool, then pour into a jar with a lid. Store in the refrigerator for up to two weeks.

Notes

Shake the jar before using to make sure any ground cinnamon is nicely distributed.
If you want, you can use 2 cinnamon sticks instead of ground cinnamon. If using cinnamon sticks, follow the instructions, but then let the cinnamon sticks steep for one hour after you turn off the heat. Remove the cinnamon sticks before bottling.
