Air fryer gochujang sweet potatoes are a spicy side dish that have so much flavor with only a few ingredients. This is a minimal effort but high reward dish.
If you're a gochujang lover, this recipe is for you. Spicy, sweet, and a little funky. I air fried some sweet potatoes and then made this sticky gochujang glaze for the top.
The result? An easy side dish that is low effort to make but packs so much flavor. I've made these gochujang sweet potatoes three times in the last month already. I'll definitely be making them many more times this fall!
Ingredients
- Sweet potatoes
- Gochujang paste
- Butter
- Olive oil
- honey
- Salt and pepper
How to make air fryer gochujang sweet potatoes
Preheat air fryer at 400 degrees F for 5 minutes. While air fryer preheats, wash and dry sweet potatoes. Slice in half, and then drizzle with olive oil, coating all the surfaces with olive oil. Sprinkle with salt and pepper.

Place sweet potatoes in the air fryer, skin side down. Air fry for 15 minutes at 400 degrees F.

Flip, and air fry for another 10 minutes face down. While potatoes cook, Add gochujang paste, butter, and honey to a small bowl. Microwave for 10-20 seconds until butter is melted and sauce is formed.

Flip sweet potatoes over and brush gochujang mixture onto sweet potatoes. Air fry for another 2-3 minutes.

Serve as desired. I topped mine with sesame seeds for crunch. They are also delicious paired with some fresh herbs like cilantro or parsley.

Recipe tips
- Cook time may depend on the size of your sweet potatoes. Poke your sweet potatoes with a fork to check for doneness before adding the gochujang glaze.
- Gochujang can be spicy! Use less gochujang if you're sensitive to spice.
- These reheat nicely! If you have leftovers, store in the refrigerator and reheat for 3-5 minutes in the air fryer.
