Air Fryer Sweet Potato Wedges

Air fryer sweet potato wedges are an easy and healthy vegetable to make! The sweet potatoes cook up in less than 20 minutes, and are so delicious on their own or served with your favorite dipping sauce.

Sweet potatoes might be the best vegetable ever. You can take sweet potatoes the sweet route or the savory route.

I usually go savory, and these air fryer sweet potato wedges are one of my favorite things to eat when tossed with spices and herbs.

The sweet potatoes get perfectly cooked in the air fryer in less than 20 minutes. The outside gets a little crispy from the oil, and the whole thing has a nice roasted sweet potato vibe.

These definitely are perfect for dipping! I love dipping the air fryer sweet potato wedges in a tasty dipping sauce. You can also just eat them on their own with a fork.

The sweet potato wedges are also family friendly! A delicious and healthy way to get kids to eat veggies (especially if they like dipping things in ketchup or other sauces).

Ingredients

  • Sweet potato
  • Olive oil
  • Smoked Paprika - I love the smoky flavor smoked paprika gives this dish, but you could leave it out or just use regular paprika.
  • Dried thyme leaves - I used dried thyme leaves, but you could use oregano, basil, Italian seasoning, or herbs de provence seasoning.
  • Salt
  • Pepper

Customizations

Want your sweet potato wedges a bit spicy? Add a pinch of cayenne pepper!

Want more fall flavors? Leave out the dried thyme and instead add some cinnamon or pumpkin pie spice.

What to serve with the sweet potato wedges

I love serving the sweet potato wedges with a dipping sauce (although they are delicious on their own too).

My favorites are chipotle mayo, honey mustard bbq sauce, or bang bang sauce.

If serving with a main dish, I love air fryer salmon, air fryer chicken cutlet, air fryer paprika chicken thighs, or air fryer honey mustard salmon.

Recipe notes

  • This recipe uses 1 medium sweet potato. If using small sweet potatoes, use 2 sweet potatoes instead of one.
  • Cook times may depend on the size of your sweet potato. Check frequently for doneness around the 14-15 minute mark, and leave in until sweet potatoes are done to your liking.

How to make air fryer sweet potato wedges

Wash and dry your sweet potato.

Slice in half lengthwise, then cut each half into 4 wedges. Once you're done, you should have 8 thin wedges (per sweet potato).

Add the sweet potato wedges to a bowl. Add the olive oil, smoked paprika, dried thyme, salt, and pepper.

Toss to combine.

Add sweet potato wedges to the air fryer basket in a single layer.

Cook at 380 degrees F for 15-18 minutes, flipping halfway through cooking.

  • 1 sweet potato medium
  • 2 Tablespoons olive oil
  • ½ teaspoon smoked paprika
  • ½ teaspoon dried thyme leaves
  • ⅛ teaspoon salt
  • ⅛ teaspoon black pepper

Instructions
 

  • Wash and dry the sweet potato. Cut sweet potato in half lengthwise, then into wedges. (Note: Each sweet potato should form 8 wedges).
  • Add sweet potato wedges to a large bowl. Add the olive oil, smoked paprika, dried thyme, salt, and pepper. Toss to combine.
  • Place in the air fryer basket in a single layer. Cook at 380 degrees F for 15-18 minutes, flipping halfway through cooking.
  • Remove and enjoy!
