Air fryer crispy rice is easy to make. The crispy rice is so delicious and can be used in rice bowls and salads.

Air fryer crispy rice bowl

I love crispy rice. The texture is just amazing. And I've found that the easiest and quickest way to make it is in the air fryer. I've tried the oven. And the air fryer is just better.

The rice gets nicely crispy and is just amazing. I then tend to use it in salads or rice bowls. It adds such a nice texture and is honestly times better than regular steamed rice.

I always use an air fryer liner so the rice doesn't fall through the cracks of the air fryer. Bonus is that it is super easy to lift out of the air fryer if you use one like I did below. But a regular liner without sides works too!

This is just the perfect use for leftover rice.

Ingredients

  • Cooked rice
  • Olive oil
  • Soy sauce
  • Lime
  • Avocado and fresh herbs (optional)

How to make air fryer crispy rice

Place a liner in your air fryer basket and then spread the precooked rice out. Drizzle with olive oil and soy sauce.

Air fry at 400 degrees F for 15 minutes.

Plate! You'll have some crispy bits, some parts with more soy, and some that are slightly softer. The contrasts are all so delicious.

I think the air fried crispy rice is perfect with a squeeze of fresh lime juice on top, some red pepper flakes, fresh herbs, and avocado. But you can serve in so many ways! Be creative!

Recipe tips

  • I love the rice at the 15 minute mark. Perfectly crispy in my opinion. However, you want to start checking at the 12 or 13 minute mark for doneness to make sure it's to your preference.
  • The rice will get more brown where you drizzle the soy sauce. It's not being more burnt there, it's just the soy sauce! You can also leave the soy sauce out depending on how you're planning to use the rice.

Equipment

  • Air Fryer

Ingredients

  • 2 cups cooked rice
  • 2 Tablespoons olive oil
  • 1 Tablespoon soy sauce
  • ½ lime
  • red pepper flakes optional
  • avocado optional

Instructions

  • Add a liner to your air fryer basket.
  • Add 2 cups of cooked rice to the air fryer on top of the liner. Spread out as needed. Drizzle olive oil and soy sauce over the rice.
  • Air fry at 400 degrees F for 13-15 minutes.
  • Remove from the air fryer, plate, and squeeze the juice from half a lime over the top. Add red pepper flakes and avocado if desired.

Notes

Start checking at the 12 minute mark for doneness. However, my rice is usually perfect more around the 15 minute mark to be really crispy.
You do not preheat your air fryer for this recipe. The paper liner is important for making sure rice does not fall through the cracks of the air fryer.
