Air Fryer Hoisin Chicken

Air fryer hoisin chicken make delicious chicken bites that are ready in only 15 minutes start to finish. These hoisin chicken bites are perfect in rice bowls, with noodles, or even on salads.

I love ingredients with a lot of flavor, and hoisin sauce is one of my favorites. It's a thick, dark Chinese condiment with a touch of sweetness. I sometimes think of it almost like a Chinese bbq sauce, although I'm sure some people would disagree with me calling it that!

But it's got a lot of savory notes, a lot of umami, and that slight sweetness. For this recipe, I used it to pack a lot of flavor into chicken. I coated the chicken in a few ingredients including the hoisin and it gave such a fantastic flavor.

I will sometimes serve this air fried hoisin chicken with rice bowls, on top of some egg noodles, or in ramen. Pictured here, I served with egg noodles and topped with toasted sesame seeds. So good!

Ingredients

  • Chicken breast
  • Hoisin sauce
  • Soy sauce
  • Garlic powder
  • Olive oil

How to make air fryer hoisin chicken

Preheat your air fryer for 5 minutes at 400 degrees F. While air fryer preheats, cut chicken into cubes and put in a bowl with hoisin, soy sauce, olive oil, and garlic powder.

Stir until chicken is coated in the sauce.

Place in the air fryer and cook for 8-10 minutes at 400 degrees F. (200 degrees C)

Serve as desired! I served with some egg noodles and sesame seeds. Sometimes I'll add broccoli or other veggies. I also like it served over rice with veggies.

Recipe tips

  • All air fryers cook differently. Cook times may depend on your specific air fryer and how large you cook the chicken bites.
  • This recipe is easy to double, triple, or quadruple. Just make sure chicken in in a single layer in the air fryer for proper cooking.
  • This marinade will also work if you want to make chicken thighs. You just will need to adjust the cook time if cooking whole boneless skinless thighs instead of chicken breast cubes.

Ingredients
  

  • 8 ounces chicken breast cut into 1.5 inch cubes
  • 2 Tablespoons hoisin sauce
  • 2 teaspoons soy sauce
  • 1 teaspoon olive oil
  • ½ teaspoon garlic powder

Instructions
 

  • Preheat air fryer for 5 minutes at 400 degrees F (200 degrees C).
  • To a medium bowl, add chicken breast cubes, hoisin sauce, soy sauce, olive oil, and garlic powder. Stir to coat the chicken in the seasonings and sauce.
  • Add chicken to air fryer. Cook for 8-10 minutes, shaking around the 5 minute mark.
  • Remove from air fryer and serve as desired.
