These easy pizza rolls in the air fryer are a quick and easy snack or lunch! The air fryer pizza rolls save time from cooking them in the oven and they get nicely crispy!

Did you grow up eating pizza rolls like me? I'd eat them for lunch, dinner, or an after school snack. My parents were always buying GIANT bags of them. And recently, I've been loving them again. And making them in my air fryer! They are so incredibly easy to make and just as crispy as you'd get from making them in the oven.

I've made these air fryer pizza rolls for both my 3 year old and my one year old. My 3 year old deemed them "delicious." While my one year old can't talk yet, he seemed to be a fan as well!

Why make these in the air fryer:

So I mean, pizza rolls are easy to pop into the oven, right? Why cook pizza rolls in an air fryer?

First, they just cook up so much more quickly! While they may take almost 20 minutes or more in the oven, they only take 7 or so minutes in the air fryer.

Second, they let you save energy by heating up a small air fryer basket instead of a giant oven! And no preheating required. (Although if you WANT, you can always preheat your air fryer for 2-3 minutes before cooking the pizza rolls to get the basket hot).

So if you're hungry or impatient, an air fryer is a quicker, more energy-efficient way to make pizza rolls!

Cooking times:

How long you cook the pizza rolls in the air fryer will depend on your air fryer and also how many pizza rolls you add. Each air fryer will cook differently. I recommend cooking for 5-8 minutes, shaking partway through and checking around 5 minutes to see how your pizza rolls are doing.

I personally like to take them out when they are crispy, but the filling hasn't started coming out of them.

I tend to check the pizza rolls every few minutes to see how they are doing. In my air fryer, 7 minutes seems to be the ideal time!

How to make extra-crispy pizza rolls:

Growing up, I loved my pizza rolls extremely crispy. I would always cook them for more time than the directions suggested.

If you're like me, then cook your pizza rolls in the air fryer for 3-4 minutes more than I've given in the recipe (so you may want to cook your pizza rolls for 8-12 minutes). As always, watch carefully and remove when the pizza rolls get to your desired level of crispiness.

The filling does start to spill out (just like it would when you cooked them a little longer in the oven), but wow. Those pizza rolls are GOOD. And still quicker than the oven.

Instructions:

Cooking air fryer pizza rolls is so incredibly easy! First, take your pizza rolls out of the freezer and place them in a single layer in your air fryer basket.

Next, place the basket back in your air fryer and cook on 400 degrees F for 5-8 minutes. About halfway through, take the basket out and shake it to redistribute the pizza rolls, then return the basket to the air fryer.

Check for crispiness starting around 5 minutes. All air fryers cook differently, so you'll want to see what is working in yours. Mine tend to take around 7 minutes of cooking before I pull them out. If I wanted them REALLY crispy, I'd probably leave in for 8-12 minutes.

And always let your pizza rolls rest for 2-3 minutes before eating. The center filling gets REALLY hot, so be careful before biting in! I like to typically cut one in half with a knife to test the heat level before starting to pop them into my mouth.

How to serve:

You can absolutely eat these pizza rolls on their own (just like I did growing up!)

But if you're looking to fancy it up, serve with a marinara sauce or even ranch dressing!

You can also cut them open with a fork and knife. I tend to do this before serving to my kids, just to make sure the filling is cool enough for them.
