Air fryer hard boiled eggs are easy to make and easy to peel. Cooking hard boiled eggs in the air fryer requires no preheating.

I don't know why, but I hate boiling eggs on the stove. Waiting for the water to heat up, timing the eggs perfectly, it doesn't SOUND like a lot of work, but when you're a busy mom trying to do 50 other things in the morning, I know I will mess up the eggs somehow.

So making hard boiled eggs in my air fryer is so much easier.

I can just put them in, set the timer, and then they are done. No need to wait for water to boil.

Why make hard boiled eggs in the air fryer?

Easy - It is really easy. You don't need to time when you add them to the water or take them out. All you do is put them in your air fryer and set the timer on your air fryer.

No preheating needed - No need to preheat your air fryer! Just add cold eggs to a cold air fryer and start cooking!

A great alternative to the stove - Sure, you could use the stove. But there are those times when you're making other things on the stove and all your burners are being used. Or your stove is broken (happened to me years ago), or you have a kitchen remodel, or you live in a place that doesn't have a stove. Voila! Even with all these scenarios, you can still make air fryer hard boiled eggs.

Ingredients

  • Eggs - Yup, that's it. Oh, you'll probably want a bowl of ice water as well to dunk the eggs in after they come out of the air fryer. And then whatever you want on your eggs. But really, eggs.

How to make air fryer hard boiled eggs

Add your eggs to the air fryer basket. Add them straight from the fridge, and to a cold air fryer (don't need to preheat).

Then, simply air fry at 270 degrees F for 16-18 minutes. (All photos below were after I air fried the eggs for 16 minutes. If you like your yolks even more set, air fry for 18 minutes).

Immediately place your hard boiled eggs in a bowl of ice water.

After 4 minutes, lightly crack the shell of the eggs. Start peeling the eggs until all the eggshell is removed. I typically do this on top of paper towels.

How to serve hard boiled eggs

I love the air fried eggs served with a little salt and pepper. So classic for a reason. It's delicious.

Sometimes I'll also add some chopped chives or green onions.

And there are so many other ideas! A dash of hot sauce or drizzled with bomba sauce.

Air fried eggs are perfect in salads, grain bowls, or ramen. You can also use the air fried eggs to make deviled eggs.

Recipe tips

  • You can make a batch of these to enjoy throughout the week! Or just cook one or two at a time if you prefer.
  • If you like your yolk to be firmer than the photos shown above, cook for 18 minutes instead of 16.
  • If your air fryer only goes to 300 degrees F for the lowest temp, cook your eggs for 13-14 minutes at 300 degrees F.

How to peel hard boiled eggs

I find that it is best to immediately immerse eggs in an bowl of ice water for 4 minutes. Then I lightly crack and start peeling.

After I get a tiny bit of the shell away, I place back in the ice water for 15 seconds to allow the water to get between the shell and egg. This helps the shell come off easily.

How many eggs can you make at once?

As many as fit in your air fryer! Make sure you don't overcrowd your air fryer, and that all eggs fit in a single layer, leaving room for the air to circulate.

Storage instructions

Leftover hard boiled eggs can be stored in the refrigerator in an airtight container for 7 days BEFORE being peeled. After peeling, they will last 3 days.

Was looking for airfryer boiled eggs, as I wanted to try it even though I was skeptical. Found your site, and it gave the best instructions. Did two eggs for 11 minutes and I didn’t pre-heat the air fryer. I and the COSORI LTE, love it. This will be my absolutely favorite way to make boiled eggs from now. Thank you!

I tried this today and my eggs came out perfect. I used large eggs and I took them out of the fridge to bring to room temperature. Air fried them according to recipe 18 minutes. When done cooking I cracked them before putting them in ice water. Peeling slid right off .

Just something I noticed on the air fryer egg.... above you have 370...than a note saying if the air fryer does not go below 300. I think the first should be 270?? Just really started using the Air fryer more so your site is great.

Appreciate you bringing this up! Definitely a typo, should say 270. Correcting now.
