Air fryer frozen salmon is surprisingly easy to make and turns out delicious and flaky. You can make this salmon straight from the freezer, no thawing required!

I'm embarrassed to say way too often I want to make salmon for dinner and then I realize I never took it out of the freezer to thaw. And... it's almost dinnertime.
Well now I don't worry, because I still just pop it right into my air fryer to thaw and cook and it turns out great! I'm giving you one of my favorite recipes to make air fryer frozen salmon, but you can use a variety of seasonings if you prefer something different! I hope you enjoy and this helps you if you're like me and frequently just want to make salmon straight from the freezer!
Ingredients
- Salmon fillet
- Olive oil
- Smoked paprika
- Dried oregano
- Garlic powder
- Salt
How to cook frozen salmon in the air fryer
Preheat air fryer for 5 minutes at 360 degrees F. Then, add salmon to the air fryer straight from frozen. Cook for 5 minutes at 360 degrees F. This should help to thaw your salmon.
While salmon cooks, add olive oil and seasonings to a bowl.
Stir to combine.
Spoon or brush seasonings on the salmon. I try to get it on the top and sides, I don't worry about flipping the salmon, but you can if you prefer.
Air fry for 7-10 minutes at 400 degrees, or until salmon reaches an internal temperature of 145 degrees F. Cook time will depend on the thickness of your cut of salmon. Mine was pretty thick and was done at the 9 minute mark.
Plate and enjoy!
Other seasoning ideas
- Use a honey mustard seasoning to spoon on top of the salmon with dijon mustard, garlic powder, and honey
- Top with some harissa for a spicy salmon recipe
- Make a honey soy topping using soy sauce, garlic powder, and honey
Recipe tips
- The final cook time of your salmon may depend on how thick your salmon is. Thinner fillets will need shorter cook time than thicker cuts. I highly recommend using a meat thermometer and checking for doneness as needed.
- This recipe can be customized using different seasonings and spices. Use what you love!
- This recipe will work for skin-on salmon or skin-off salmon.
- I'm providing the recipe for 1 salmon fillet, but if you're serving more, just multiply be the amount of salmon fillets you're cooking!
