Air fryer chicken skewers are easy to make and full of flavor. The yogurt marinade keeps the chicken juicy and delicious.

Air fryer chicken skewers

I love a good chicken skewer. They are just so fun to eat, and so flavorful if you add some good spices. And it should be a surpose to no one that my favorite way to cook them are in the air fryer.

They turn out so juicy and delicious, and cook up quickly. I love pairing air fryer chicken skewers with a cucumber tomato salad and some rice, potatoes, or hummus. It makes an easy air fryer lunch or dinner!

Ingredients

  • Chicken breast
  • Greek yogurt
  • Lemon (zest and juice)
  • Garlic powder
  • Tandoori spice
  • Dried oregano
  • Olive oil
  • Salt

How to make air fryer chicken skewers

First, soak your chicken skewers in water. (You will need 4-6 chicken skewers, so soak at least 6). Add seasonings, lemon zest and juice, yogurt, and olive oil to a large bowl.

Marinade ingredients in a bowl

Stir to combine.

Marinade mixed together

Cube chicken into chunks about 1.5 inches big and add to the marinade. Stir to combine. Let marinade for 15-20 minutes.

Chicken marinating in yogurt and seasonings

Preheat your air fryer for 5 minutes at 400 degrees F. While air fryer preheats, add chicken to the skewers. I have found that 5 skewers fit perfectly in my air fryer, so I typically do 5 skewers.

Assembling chicken skewers

Add chicken skewers to air fryer basket in a single layer.

Uncooked chicken skewers in air fryer

Cook at 400 degrees F for 10 minutes, then flip and cook for an additional 8 minutes.

Recipe tips

  • This recipe can serve 2 or more depending on how many skewers you want to serve per person.
  • All air fryers cook differently. Adjust cook time if needed.
  • Don't skip the step on soaking the skewers! This will keep them from burning in the air fryer.
  • Make sure you get wooden skewers that will fit in your air fryer.

Equipment

  • Air Fryer

Ingredients

  • 1 pound chicken breast cut into cubes 1.5 inches big
  • ⅓ cup Greek yogurt plain and unsweetened
  • ½ lemon zest and juice
  • 2 Tablespoons olive oil
  • 1 teaspoon tandoori spice
  • ½ teaspoon dried oregano
  • ½ teaspoon salt
  • ¼ teaspoon garlic powder

Instructions

  • Soak your chicken skewers in water. (You will need 4-6 chicken skewers, so soak at least 6).
  • To a large bowl, add seasonings, lemon zest and juice from half a lemon, yogurt, and olive oil. Stir to combine.
  • Cut chicken into 1.5 inch cubes and add to the marinade. Stir to combine. Let marinade for at least 15 minutes.
  • Preheat your air fryer for 5 minutes at 400 degrees F. While air fryer preheats, add chicken to the skewers, fitting as many pieces as you want on each skewer. I like to leave a little room at the top and bottom for holding/flipping.
