I always adore Mediterranean and Greek-inspired flavors. They just always feel so bright, fresh, and delicious. So I am just in love with this air fryer Greek chicken bowl.
The chicken is bright and lemony and is so juicy after marinating in the yogurt mixture. Paired with fluffy couscous and a tomato cucumber salad? The perfect bowl.
The Greek chicken bowl is also perfect for meal prep! You can make all the components ahead of time and reheat as needed.
My husband and I enjoyed the Greek chicken bowl for lunch several times this last week. So good. The perfect lunch or dinner that feels filling without feeling heavy. This recipe serves two, but you can of course double if serving four or if you're using it for meal prep! I hope you enjoy if you decide to make it!
What to know before making the Greek chicken bowl
- This air fryer Greek Chicken bowl has three components. The air fryer Greek chicken, the tomato cucumber salad, and the fluffy couscous. However, you can swap these out for other ingredients if you prefer! I will sometimes use quinoa instead of couscous or sometimes I'll make some air fryer zucchini to add to the bowl.
- You can use boneless skinless chicken thighs or chicken breast to make the air fryer chicken bowl. However, the cook times may be slightly different. Check the recipe instructions and notes at the bottom of the post to make sure you cook your chicken properly!
How to make an air fryer Greek chicken bowl
First, prep your chicken marinade! Add Greek yogurt (I use full-fat), lemon juice, oregano, garlic powder, salt and pepper to a bowl. Stir to combine.
Add your chicken thighs or chicken breast (if using chicken breast, I slice in half to get two thinner pieces per chicken breast) and make sure chicken is coated in the marinade. Set aside to marinate for 30 minutes.
Take your diced tomato, cucumber, and sliced red onion and add to a separate bowl. Add red wine vinegar, olive oil, salt and pepper.
Stir to combine and let marinade for at least 20 minutes, stirring occasionally. While tomato salad marinates, prepare your couscous according to the package directions.
Preheat air fryer for 5 minutes, then add chicken (you may need to do in 2 batches, depending on the size of your chicken and the size of your air fryer).
Air fry at 400 degrees F (200 degrees C) until the chicken reaches at temperature of at least 165 degrees F. (I usually cook chicken for 12-16 minutes, depending on thickness and type of chicken).
Let chicken rest for 5 minutes, then slice. Add couscous, tomato salad, and sliced chicken to the bowl. Top with feta and squeeze more lemon juice over everything for additional brightness if desired!
Ideas for topping the bowl
- I love adding feta cheese to the bowl to give it more Greek vibes. You can also add fresh herbs like dill or mint.
- You can add a scoop of hummus or tzatziki to the Greek chicken bowl.
- Add some air fried chickpeas or air fryer zucchini to the bowl.
Recipe notes
- If using chicken breast, either slice in half to get two thinner pieces or pound to be thinner, then cut in half. If using boneless skinless chicken thighs, simply use as is.
- All air fryers cook differently and cook times will depend on the thickness of your chicken (especially if using chicken breast). Chicken should be cooked to a temperature of at least 165 degrees F to be safe to eat. I usually like to cook chicken thighs to at least 175 degree F, because I think the texture is better. Use a meat thermometer to check for the internal temperature of the chicken.
- I recommend cooking thinly sliced chicken breast for 12-15 minutes and chicken thighs for 13-16 minutes at 400 degrees F.
- You don't need to flip the chicken during cooking, but you do need to preheat the air fryer for 5 minutes prior to adding the chicken.
- You may need to cook in 2 batches, depending on the size of your chicken and size of your air fryer.
