Air Fryer Honey Dijon Chicken Breasts are perfect for dinner, or sliced into a salad or on a sandwich. The honey mustard sauce provides a delicious flavor and the air fryer cooks the chicken perfectly.

I love making this honey dijon chicken for several reasons. First, it's so easy to make in the air fryer. Second, it's delicious. Third, I can cook up several chicken breasts and then use them in so many ways throughout the week!

I add this honey mustard chicken into salads, sandwiches, thrown into pastas or grain bowls. And of course, sometimes I'll just eat as is for dinner, served with my favorite vegetables.

Ingredients:

  • Boneless skinless chicken breast
  • Dijon mustard
  • Olive oil
  • Honey
  • Garlic powder
  • Salt
  • Dried herbs

Customizations:

Swap out the chicken breasts for boneless skinless chicken thighs - This recipe is easy to make using chicken thighs instead of chicken breasts. Marinate as instructed, but then cook the chicken thighs for 15-16 minutes, flipping halfway through.

Swap dijon for stone ground or yellow mustard - If you don't have dijon mustard, or simply prefer a different type, swap out the type of mustard. The air fryer honey mustard chicken will still be delicious.

Use different dried herbs - I used dried tarragon, but that can easily be swapped out for dried parsley, dried oregano, or dried thyme.

Equipment needed:

Air Fryer - An air fryer is needed for this recipe, as it's an air fryer recipe. This is the one I have and love.

Meat thermometer - Anytime I cook chicken in the air fryer, I rely heavily on my meat thermometer to make sure my chicken is cooked to the proper temperature. Because the size of chicken breasts and thighs can vary so much, cooking times can also vary. A meat thermometer helps me ensure I cook my chicken to the proper temperature every time.

How to serve:

Air fryer honey mustard chicken is delicious served as is, alongside your favorite vegetable. (I love air fryer squash or air fryer asparagus). You can also add a squeeze of fresh lemon juice for brightness.

And if you want a cream sauce to serve with your chicken? Simmer some heavy cream (or half and half), dijon, and tarragon until warm and combined and spoon over your honey dijon chicken.

I also love slicing up my chicken and serving on a salad or sandwich.

The air fried chicken is also tasty cut up and either served in a pasta like this creamy harissa pasta or sautéed with some vegetables.

Recipe tips:

  • The size and thickness of the chicken breast will make a huge different in cook time. A smaller chicken breast may cook in 16-19 minutes, while a large chicken breast may cook between 20-28 minutes. If you do have a large chicken breast, you can slice into two thinner pieces to cut down on cooking time.
  • Chicken should be cooked until at least 165 degrees F to be safe. Use a meat thermometer to judge if your chicken is properly cooked.
  • All air fryers cook differently. Adjust cooking time as needed to make sure your chicken is cooked properly.
