Air fryer parmesan carrots are cheesy, crispy, and delicious! The carrots get roasted in the air fryer before adding the parmesan cheese. This is an easy side dish that can be ready in less than 20 minutes.
I love parmesan cheese. And I love crispy parmesan cheese. And I love my air fryer. So I've been loving adding parmesan cheese to my favorite vegetables . And parmesan cheese pairs so nicely with carrots!
The result? A quick and easy air fryer vegetable dish. The carrots get perfectly roasted in the air fryer and the parmesan cheese adds a nice salty and cheesy crispness. So delicious.
This recipe serves two, but I admit to having eaten all of these by myself a couple of times because they are so tasty.
Ingredients
- Carrots
- Olive oil
- Garlic powder
- Paprika
- Salt
- Parmesan cheese
Customizations
While I seasoned these with paprika, you can mix it up! You can use smoked paprika or chili powder for a smokier flavor. For a more herbal flavor, use some dried herbs.
You can also do a mix of cheddar and parmesan or just use cheddar cheese if you prefer! This recipe is easy to customize. (Looking for a version with potatoes? Try our air fryer parmesan potatoes).
What to serve with the carrots
I love serving these carrots as is, or with a dipping sauce. They pair wonderfully with homemade chipotle mayo, spicy feta dip, or even this honey mustard bbq sauce.
When pairing with a main course, I love them with air fryer honey mustard salmon, air fryer crispy chicken thighs, or air fryer panko cod.
Recipe notes
- All air fryers cook differently. Watch closely to make sure carrots and parmesan are done to your liking.
- Cooking times may vary based on the size and thickness of your carrots. I always make sure most of my carrots are tender before adding the parmesan cheese.
How to make air fried parmesan carrots
To a large bowl, add the olive oil, garlic powder, paprika, and salt.
Stir to combine.
Slice each carrot into 3-4 sections (depending on length of carrot). My sections were all about 1.5-2 inches long.
Then, slice those sections into either 4 pieces or 2 pieces each. You want the carrots to be about an equal thickness. So in this case, I sliced the thicker sections into quarters and the thinner section just in half.
Note that if some section of your carrots are VERY thin, you may not slice them at all.
Add your carrot pieces to the bowl and stir to coat the carrots in the oil and seasonings.
Line an air fryer basket with parchment paper. (This will help to keep the cheese from falling through). Add carrots in a single layer to the air fryer basket.
Air fry at 380 degrees F for 10 minutes. The, sprinkle the parmesan cheese over the top.
Air fry for another 5-7 minutes until carrots and parmesan are cooked to your liking.
Serve and enjoy!
