Air fryer carrots are easy to make! These air fryer roasted carrots cook up in less than 15 minutes for a quick and easy side dish.

Roasted carrots are delicious. Roasting them really brings out the sweetness of the carrots. But every time I roast them in the oven, it seems to take forever. First for the oven to preheat, then the carrots to get to that perfect level where they are roasted on the outside and soft on the inside.
Well, now I just roast carrots in my air fryer! So quick and easy. The carrots turn out perfect every time, and I don't need to worry about heating up my entire oven every time I want carrots.
The trick is cutting all the carrots the same size so they done at the same time! So if you're using different sizes of carrots, try to cut them as much as possible to be the same size.
Ingredients
- Carrots - I used 4 medium sized carrots for this, you could also use 3 large carrots.
- Olive oil
- Garlic powder
- Dried thyme - I used dried thyme, but you could use dried parsley, dried oregano, or a blend like Herbs de Provence or Italian seasoning
- Salt
- Pepper
How to make air fryer carrots
Preheat air fryer for 5 minutes at 400 degrees F.
Peel and cut carrots into 1 inch long pieces. If you have really thick carrots, you may need to cut them in half widthwise as well.
Add carrots to a large bowl.
Add olive oil, garlic powder, dried thyme, salt, and pepper to the bowl.
Stir until the carrots are coated in oil and seasonings.
Add carrots to the air fryer basket.
Air fry for 12-15 minutes at 400 degrees F, shaking the basket after 8 minutes.
Plate, and serve as desired!
Recipe tips
- Cook time will depend on the size and thickness of the carrots. Pierce a few carrots with a fork to test for doneness before removing from the air fryer.
- This recipe serves 1-2 people as a side dish. This depends on if you're serving this as your only side dish or with additional side dishes. If serving more people, double the recipe!
How to customize
Air fryer carrots can be customized with a variety of seasonings and spices. For a bit of heat, add a pinch of ground cayenne pepper.
For a smoky flavor, add some smoked paprika or chili powder.
What to serve with the air fried carrots
I find that the air fried carrots pair beautiful with a chicken dish like air fryer panko chicken, air fryer parmesan crusted chicken, air fryer thinly sliced chicken breast, air fryer chicken thighs, or air fryer crispy onion chicken.
If pairing with fish, I like it with air fryer harissa salmon, air fryer garlic butter salmon, or air fryer panko cod.
How to store leftovers
Leftover air fryer carrots can be stored in an airtight container in the refrigerator for 3-4 days.
To reheat, simply add back to the air fryer and cook for 2-3 minutes at 350 degrees F.
