Air Fryer Pumpkin French Toast is a delicious holiday treat that uses pumpkin pie spice and pumpkin puree. This fall-inspired French toast is perfect for breakfast or dessert.
French toast is one of my favorite breakfast items. It's custardy, delicious, easy, and fun to customize!
During the fall months I love channeling my inner pumpkin spice lover and making all things pumpkin. So this air fryer pumpkin French toast winds up on the menu at least a few times.
It's so delicious! I love serving mine with whipped cream and maple syrup.
Why make this recipe
Easy - This French toast is so easy to make in the air fryer! Perfect for a holiday breakfast.
Delicious - The pumpkin flavors give the French toast that added flavor that is so delicious!
Perfect way to use up canned pumpkin - This recipe only uses ¼ cup canned pumpkin puree (4 Tablespoons), so it's a perfect way to use up any leftover canned pumpkin you have!
Ingredients
- Bread - I prefer using thick sliced bread like brioche or Texas toast
- Eggs - 2 whole eggs
- Milk - I used regular milk, but you can also use almond milk, soy milk, or your favorite dairy-free alternative
- Pumpkin puree - This recipe uses 4 Tablespoons of pumpkin puree, so you won't use the whole can
- Vanilla extract - I prefer pure vanilla extract
- Cinnamon - The cinnamon gives the cinnamon toast those fall vibes
- Pumpkin pie spice - The pumpkin pie spice helps to bring out all the other flavors
- Pinch of salt - While you don't want your French toast to be salty, just a tiny pinch of salt helps bring out all the other flavors.
Customization ideas
- The recipe itself isn't sweet and has no sugar. The sugar comes from maple syrup, powdered sugar, whipped cream, etc that you add after cooking. So if you want your French toast sweet, sprinkle some granulated sugar or brown sugar on the French toast after adding to the air fryer.
- Don't have pumpkin pie spice? Add a little nutmeg and additional cinnamon instead.
- Want more pumpkin flavor? Add an extra Tablespoon or 2 of pumpkin puree.
How to serve
The air fryer pumpkin French toast is best if you serve warm.
The French toast isn't sweet, so serving it with something like maple syrup and whipped cream will help satisfy your sweet tooth! I love cinnamon whipped cream.
I also love to sprinkle some powdered sugar or cinnamon sugar on top.
You can also serve with a fruit like cinnamon apples or pears or even fresh fruit.
For a savory side, I love air fryer breakfast potatoes or scrambled eggs with spinach.
Can you freeze/refrigerate the French toast?
Yes! The French toast can be frozen. Let cool, then place in an airtight container or plastic bag and freeze for 1-2 months. To reheat, you can either thaw first, or just pop a frozen piece of French toast into the air fryer or oven to reheat.
If refrigerating, leftovers can last up to 4 days.
Recipe tips
- French toast loves sticking to the air fryer as it cooks. Make sure to brush your air fryer basket with oil or spray (with air fryer-safe spray) your air fryer basket or racks before adding the French toast. I reapply in between batches.
- If making in batches, keep cooked French toast warm in the oven at a low heat until ready to serve.
