Air fryer gnocchi gets crispy on the outside and stay pillowy soft on the inside. This air fried gnocchi is so easy to make with shelf stable gnocchi that you can keep in your pantry.
I love making crispy air fryer gnocchi. Honestly, while the boiled kind is okay, I much prefer crisping mine up in the air fryer. This means that absolutely no boiling is needed, just season and toss in the air fryer.
After air frying, it's easy to serve the crispy gnocchi with marinara sauce, tomato sauce, or just some freshly grated parmesan cheese. I will sometimes make a sage brown butter sauce that is also amazing!
Ingredients
- Gnocchi - I use shelf-stable gnocchi for this recipe because it's so easy to keep packages in my pantry and then pull out whenever needed.
- Olive oil - tossing the gnocchi in olive oil before air frying helps to crisp up the outside of the gnocchi
- Dried oregano - I love using dried oregano with this gnocchi to give it a delicious flavor. If you're not a fan of dried oregano, you can use dried parsley, thyme, etc.
- Garlic powder - This gives the gnocchi a little additional flavor.
- Salt and pepper - I just use a sprinkling.

How to make air fryer gnocchi
Making gnocchi in the air fryer is so easy! First, preheat your air fryer. Then, add the gnocchi to a large bowl. Add the olive oil and spices and toss until combined.

Add the gnocchi to the air fryer basket. Air fry at 400 degrees F for 18-20 minutes, shaking the basket several times while cooking. (Start checking around the 15 minute mark for doneness as all air fryers are different).

Gnocchi should be lightly browned, with the outside crispy.

Plate and serve the air fryer gnocchi as desired!

How to customize
You can easily swap out the oregano with different spices to give the air fried gnocchi different flavors. Here's a few ideas that might work well:
- Harissa to give it a flavorful, slightly spicy kick
- Dried basil, parsley, and thyme for more herbal flavors
- Add garlic powder or onion powder for extra seasoning
- Add red pepper flakes or a bit of ground cayenne for spice
Recipe tips
- All air fryers cook differently. Check frequently for doneness. However, do not overcook, as the gnocchi will become tough. You want them to be light and pillowy inside while crispy on the outside. Start checking at the 15 minute mark.
- You will need to shake the basket several times during cooking so that the gnocchi gets cooked properly.
- If using frozen gnocchi, you may want to thaw it in the microwave before air frying for the best results.
