Air Fryer Salami Chips are a quick, easy, and a delicious snack! They can be used in so many different ways, and it's easy to put your own spin on the salami with different flavors!
Air fryer owners, do you ever look around your house thinking "what can I air fry today?"
That was me recently, and I found salami in my refrigerator drawer. I figured the thin slices of salami would crisp up nicely in the air fryer, and I was right! It was such an easy snack to make.
Air fryer salami chips can be made in 5-10 minutes and require no preheating. They are a fun, tasty snack. You can customize them by adding different seasonings or make them sweet or spicy!
They can also be served in so many ways from a tasty snack to part of a pasta or salad.
Ingredients
For these air fryer salami chips, you only need one ingredient -- salami! While you can add more (check out the variations below), if you're looking for classic salami chips, you just need the salami.
However, you do want to get the pre-sliced thin salami, as shown below. If you try to slice your own salami, it will not crisp up like the thin salami.
Variations
- Sprinkle some dried herbs on top of the salami before air frying! This will allow you to give the salami more oregano, basil, thyme, etc. flavors.
- For spicy air fryer salami chips, sprinkle a little cayenne pepper (not too much!), or for a more subtle heat, add a little harissa powder or chili powder.
- If you want a slightly sweet version, sprinkle a tiny bit of brown sugar or brush a little maple syrup on top of the salami before air frying. Watch closely though! Sugar can make the salami caramelize and you don't want it to burn.
How to serve
Air fryer salami chips are so fun to serve up on a charcuterie board alongside other meats and cheeses. They would also be delicious on a sandwich! They add a nice bit of crunch.
If you're looking for a bit of crunch in your salad or even pasta, they would be delicious broken up and served in those.
And of course, these salami chips are fun to eat as is. I always love some fresh basil, so I served these with fresh basil on a plate. You could also serve with a dipping sauce like guacamole, salsa, homemade chipotle mayo, or even ranch dressing.
Recipe tips
- I recommend using something heavy like a metal rack to keep the salami slices from flying around in the air fryer.
- All air fryers cook differently. Mine were perfect at 5 minutes, but you may want to start checking at the 4 minute mark and cook for longer if they aren't crispy enough yet. Depending on your salami and air fryer, it may take 5-8 minutes.
- You can add as many slices as you want to your air fryer basket, but make sure to cook them in a single layer.
How to make air fryer salami chips
Place the slices of salami in the air fryer basket in a single layer.
Add a rack on top to keep the salami from blowing around. (This is the rack from my Instant Pot).
Air fry at 350 degrees F for 5 minutes. (You may need less time or a little longer, depending on your air fryer). You want the salami to be crispy, but not burned.
Remove the salami from the air fryer and place on paper towels to remove any extra grease.
Serve the air fryer salami chips as desired and enjoy!
