Air fryer sea bream fillets cook up so quickly. They are a delicious and light way to eat fish any day of the week for lunch or dinner.
I live in Lisbon and fish is a pretty big deal here. Whenever I see sea bream on a menu, I'm usually ordering it. It's such a light fish that is perfect with some olive oil and a squeeze of lemon. (Here it's called dourada, so if you're in Lisbon or Portugal, that's what it's called).
Lately, I've been getting the sea bream fillets and cooking them in my air fryer. It makes for such a quick lunch or dinner and just feels light, bright, and perfect. I put together this easy recipe, so if you're wanting to know how to cook sea bream fillets in your air fryer, you know how to do it!
Ingredients
- Sea bream fillets (can also be called porgy, dourada, dorade, dorada, silver bream)
- Olive oil
- Salt and pepper
- Lemon
- Fresh parsley
How to make air fryer sea bream fillets
Preheat the air fryer for five minutes. Pat the sea bream dry with paper towels. If needed, remove any bones. Drizzle the fillets with olive oil.

Rub the olive oil onto all sides of the fillets (careful of any bones). Then, season the fish with salt and pepper.

Add the sea bream fillets to the air fryer skin side up. If you want, you can use air fryer parchment paper, as I did below. (Note - NEVER add parchment paper while preheating. It will blow into the heating unit and be a fire hazard).

Air fry at 400 degrees F (200 degrees C) for 8-9 minutes.

This is how your sea bream should look after it's been air fried!

I then like to top mine with a healthy squeeze of lemon (and lemon slices if I'm serving to others for presentation) and parsley or other fresh herbs.

Recipe tips
- Sea bream does have a lot of bones. Either remove before cooking, or be aware that you may have to watch out for bones when eating. (So worth it though as it's a delicious fish).
- If using parchment paper in your air fryer, do not add to your air fryer until AFTER preheating.
- All air fryers are different. Adjust as needed for the thickness of your sea bream fillets. You may need an extra minute or two, depending on your air fryer.
