Ninja Creami shamrock shake (a copycat ice cream version of McDonald's) is a minty delicious ice cream recipe! Top with whipped cream, a cherry, or chocolate sauce (or all three).

My husband is a huge fan of McDonald's Shamrock Shakes, but unfortunately they don't sell them in Portugal where we live. So I've been working to perfect a Ninja Creami shamrock shake so we can still enjoy them this time of year.

My husband (who is a self-proclaimed Shamrock Shake expert) said it tastes exactly like the McDonald's version! Success. Even better? It's a high protein version since it uses cottage cheese to add that creamy texture.

I topped mine with some whipped cream, but you can also add a cherry or even some chocolate syrup. Get creative!

Ingredients

  • Cottage cheese
  • Milk
  • Sugar
  • Vanilla extract
  • Mint extract (I prefer regular mint extract, but you can also use peppermint extract if that is what you have)
  • Green food coloring
  • Whipped cream (optional)

How to make a Ninja Creami shamrock shake

Add all ingredients to the Ninja Creami container and stir to combine.

Ice cream ingredients mixed together for shamrock shake

Freeze for at least 18 hours on a level surface in your freezer.

Frozen ice cream

Process on the ice cream setting. Add a splash of milk and respin. You may need to respin 1-3 more times to get your desired texture. (I respun mine three times and it was perfect).

Either scoop out into bowls, or add whipped cream right into the Creami container and dig in!

Recipe tips

  • After removing from the freezer, I like to run a little warm water along the outside of the container for 30 seconds to help thaw the outer layer. You can also leave out for 15 minutes before processing.
  • For this recipe, I don't worry about blending up the ingredients before freezing. You can if you want though.
  • If you have leftovers, simply smooth out the top and return to the freezer. You may need to thaw or reprocess before enjoying again.
