It's easy to make a high protein ice cream in your Ninja Creami using only 4 ingredients! This chocolate protein Ninja Creami is made without protein powder using simple ingredients that are inexpensive.

Chocolate Protein Ninja Creami ice cream this recipe

I've been making the creamiest protein chocolate ice cream in my Ninja Creami without using protein powder. Could you add a scoop of protein powder if you want? Sure. But this makes a protein-rich ice cream with just regular ingredients, no protein powder needed.

The secret? Cottage cheese. It gives the ice cream such a creamy delicious texture. The chocolate flavor comes from cocoa powder. This is an easy to make recipe using only a few (4!) simple ingredients.

This is an ice cream I love enjoying since it contains more protein than regular ice cream, and my kids love it too.

Ingredients

  • Milk - you can use any type of milk you want for this. I typically use dairy milk, but you can use almond milk, soy, coconut, oat, etc.
  • Cocoa powder
  • Sugar
  • Cottage cheese - It doesn't matter if you use a larger curd or smaller curd, it will all get blended to create that smooth ice cream texture.

How to make Ninja Creami chocolate protein ice cream

Process on the lite ice cream setting. If needed, add a splash of milk and respin to get to the desired texture.

Recipe tips

  • Make sure you run a little hot water along the outside of the Creami container before processing. This will allow the outer layer to thaw and get incorporated properly. (Alternately, you can remove from the freezer 10-15 minutes before processing).
  • If you have leftovers, smooth out the top and return to the freezer. You will likely need to reprocess before enjoying again.
  • If you want to amp up the protein, you can always add a scoop of protein powder to your ice cream mixture.
