Air fryer toast comes out crispy and brown. Learn how long to cook air fryer toast so it is perfect every time!

Toasted bread in air fryer

I know what you're thinking, WHY should you toast your bread in the air fryer? Doesn't a toaster do the same job?

I mean, yes, but... there are some benefits. First, my air fryer lets me toast 4 slices of bread at once, which is great if I'm making toast for the whole family! Also, my air fryer will toast up bread that may be a little too thick to fit into a toaster.

And the MOST important reason for me... I don't own a toaster. I did not want to buy one when it will just sit on my counter for the occasional time when I want to toast bread. Why have another appliance when my air fryer can toast bread perfectly?

Ingredients

  • Bread - Yup, that's it. You just need some slices of bread. It can be sandwich bread, slices from a more rustic loaf, etc.
  • Optional ingredient - Whatever toppings you want on your bread!

Butter and jam are the main things I usually put on my toast, but sometimes I'll make this strawberry butter that is so good!

How to make air fryer toast

Add your sliced bread directly to the air fryer basket or tray. You can do just one slice or more! Just make sure they aren't overlapping.

Bread in air fryer

Air fryer toast at 400 degrees F for 4 minutes. Bread should be perfectly toasted! If you want it done more, simply add for another minute, but watch carefully!

Recipe tips

  • You do not need to preheat your air fryer when making air fryer toast.
  • You do not need to flip the bread, as the bread dries out perfectly, but the top side does look more "toasted." If you want more even browning, you can flip the bread halfway through cooking.
  • If your bread is very thick, you may need to add a minute to the cook time.
  • You do not need to brush the bread with oil or butter before toasting, but you can if you want.
