Ninja Creami peppermint ice cream is the perfect amount of peppermint flavor! Top the ice cream with crushed candy canes or peppermint pieces for even more peppermint flavor.
Is it weird to put candy canes in ice cream? I mean, candy canes are such a Christmas treat, and ice cream is such a summer treat. Well I don't care! I'm doing it anyways.
Every year around Christmas, one of the grocery stores in our area puts out a peppermint/candy cane ice cream. And every year, it sells out before we get our hands on a carton. So I decided to make a homemade version with my Ninja Creami.
This way, we're able to enjoy peppermint ice cream year round. Whenever we want. The ice cream on its own is delicious with peppermint flavor, but it's even better with crushed peppermint on top. My daughter loves this one, and I do too. And so easy to make in the Creami.
Ingredients
- Milk
- Heavy cream
- Cream cheese
- Sugar
- Peppermint extract
- Peppermint/candy cane pieces
Note: if you prefer to use a different vanilla base, you can, just swap out 1 teaspoon of vanilla for ½ teaspoon of peppermint extract.
How to make Ninja Creami Peppermint Ice Cream
Add cream cheese to a large, microwave safe bowl and microwave for 15 seconds. Add sugar and peppermint extract and combine all together. Then add the milk and heavy cream and whisk until combined.
Pour the mixture into your Ninja Creami pint container.
Freeze for at least 24 hours.
Process on the ice cream setting. If ice cream is crumbly, add a little splash of milk and respin.
Crush peppermint or candy cane pieces. I usually put it in a ziplock bag, and then break up the peppermint with a rolling pin, muddler, or meat tenderizer.
Top your peppermint ice cream with peppermint pieces. (You could also add these in as a mix in, but I usually just top with the peppermint).
Recipe tips
- If ice cream is crumbly after processing, add a splash of milk and respin.
- To store leftovers, level out the top of the ice cream before returning to the freezer. This will allow you to reprocess if needed.
- You can use this with a different vanilla base. Just make sure to swap out 1 teaspoon of vanilla extract for ½ teaspoon of peppermint extract.
- This recipe can be made in the Ninja Creami or Ninja Creami Deluxe.
