Air fryer miso salmon is easy to make and can be ready in less than 15 minutes. The salmon is topped with a delicious and flavorful miso glaze and then cooked to perfection in the air fryer.
I've said it again and again. Salmon in the air fryer is one of my favorite things. It just always gets so perfectly flaky.
And it's so easy to flavor with whatever seasonings and spices you love! I love making this homemade miso glaze and then cooking it up for an easy lunch for one.
While this recipe does serve one person, it's easy to double or quadruple if you're cooking for more people!
My favorite way to eat the air fryer miso glazed salmon is with some tender broccoli and rice, but it pairs well with a lot of veggies!
Ingredients
- Salmon fillet
- Miso paste - Ideally white (shiro), or yellow miso.
- Soy sauce
- Honey or maple syrup
- Rice vinegar
- Sriracha
- Olive oil
- Sesame seeds and green onions, for garnish (optional)
How to make air fryer miso salmon
First, take your salmon and dry with paper towels.
Next, mix up the miso glaze! Add soy sauce, miso paste, honey (or maple syrup), rice vinegar, and sriracha to a small bowl. Stir to combine.
Top salmon fillet with the miso sauce.
Brush or spray air fryer basket with oil so that salmon does not stick. Add salmon to the air fryer basket.
Cook for 8-10 minutes at 380 degrees F. (Longer if cooking a thicker piece of salmon).
Plate and enjoy! I topped mine with sesame seeds and sliced green onions.
Recipe notes
- All air fryers cook differently. Adjust cooking time as needed for your air fryer.
- Cooking time will also be affected by the thickness of your salmon. Thinner pieces may be done in 8-10 minutes, but thicker pieces may need an extra couple of minutes.
- Note for if your salmon has skin - I usually leave the skin on my salmon and then remove after cooking. If preferred, you can remove the skin prior to adding the miso glaze. Either way works, and should not affect cooking times in this recipe.
- While this recipe serves 1, it's easy to double or quadruple!
What is miso?
Miso is a fermented paste made from soybeans. It comes in several different varieties ranging from white (shiro) miso, which is the mellowest and sweetest. Then yellow miso is a medium flavor miso, with red miso being the darkest and most pungent.
What type of air fryer to use
This salmon can be made in a basket-style or rack air fryer.
It's single serving, so it can also be made in small air fryers! If you want to double or quadruple, use a large air fryer.
Customization ideas
For additional heat, add extra sriracha or chili paste to the miso glaze.
The miso salmon can be made sweeter with an additional teaspoon of honey or maple syrup.
