My husband makes the best garlic bread in the world. It's true. People have raved about it. So I've been the lucky recipient of many delicious meals served with garlic bread.
But he's always made it in the oven. And we're air fryer lovers on this page. I mean, I like the oven too, but I love transforming recipes for the air fryer. So I got him to teach me how to make it, and then I perfected it for the air fryer.
The verdict? Even he was impressed! He said he thinks the air fryer cooks it more evenly and better than the oven. Folks, we have a winner.

Ingredients
- Baguette (you'll need half a baguette or a whole one if doubling the recipe) - you can use a french baguette or ciabatta baguette
- Butter
- Clove of garlic
- Salt
- Dried oregano or Italian seasoning
- Black pepper (optional)
How to make garlic bread in the air fryer
First, slice up your baguette! So, I start with half a baguette. Then, I take it and slice in half lengthwise and then half again widthwise so I get four pieces, as shown below.
Mince up your garlic on a cutting board. Sprinkle with salt, then mince again. I like to get the pieces as small as possible for maximum garlic flavor. (You could also use a garlic press instead of mincing with a knife).
Melt butter in a small bowl in the microwave, then add the minced garlic.
Spread the melted garlic butter onto the faces of your baguette. I usually do this with a silicone brush, but you can also spoon it over.
After this, I sprinkle with oregano and black pepper. Whether you use black pepper is up to you, but we always do!
Add bread to your air fryer in a single layer and air fry at 350 degrees F for 5-6 minutes, checking at 5 minute mark for doneness. (Note - I do NOT recommend preheating your air fryer).
Plate and enjoy! It's crispy, crunchy, and full of garlic butter flavor.
Recipe tips
- Do not preheat your air fryer for this recipe.
- Mince the garlic very fine to make sure to get maximum garlic flavor. If doubling the recipe and using a whole baguette, make sure to use 2 cloves of garlic.
- Watch the garlic bread carefully to make sure it gets browned but not burnt. Check around the 4-5 minute mark until garlic bread is crispy and done to your liking.
How to customize
The garlic bread can be customized in so many ways! Want it a little spicy? Add some red pepper flakes before cooking.
Want it more garlicy? Mince up an additional garlic clove to add or use some garlic powder.
