Roasted miso radishes topped with black sesame seeds this recipe

If you love radishes, this is a recipe for you. If you don't love radishes, this is a recipe for you.

Because roasted miso radishes are for everyone. The radishes are coated in a miso sauce and then roasted in the oven.

The result? A sweet, caramelized radish that you'll just want to keep popping in your mouth. And when you top with some black sesame seeds? A delicious addition of texture and visual appeal!

While this recipe serves two as a side dish, you might want to eat it all yourself. Better make extras.

Ingredients

  • Radishes
  • White miso paste
  • Olive oil
  • Sesame oil
  • Salt
  • Pepper
  • Black sesame seeds (optional)

What is miso and where do you find it?

Miso is a traditional Japanese fermented paste. It is commonly used in Japanese cuisine, but it can also be found in other Asian dishes.

Miso is often used to add flavor to soups, stews, marinades, dressings, and sauces. It can also be used for roasting vegetables and adding delicious flavor.

Miso can come in white, yellow, or red. White tends to be the mildest, while red is the most pungent.

Customization ideas

If you want to add a bit of heat to your miso radishes, you can add some red pepper flakes or some chili sauce to increase the spice level.

I also love adding fresh herbs to the finished dish.

What to serve with the miso radishes

Miso roasted radishes pair well with air fryer panko chicken, air fryer gochujang chicken, air fryer sockeye salmon, or blood orange salmon.

They can also be served with a simple arugula salad or some sesame rice.

Recipe notes

  • The miso does get caramelized in the oven! Watch carefully to make sure it doesn't burn, but a little caramelization makes it taste delicious!
  • All ovens cook differently. Adjust cooking times as needed.

How to make the roasted miso radishes

Preheat oven to 425 degrees F. Wash radishes and trim the tops and bottoms off. Next, cut each radish into quarters and place in a large bowl.

Roast for 18-25 minutes, tossing every 10 minutes. Poke radishes with a fork to make sure they are cooked through. If needed, continue cooking for an extra 5 minutes.
