Peanut Butter Toast with Apples and Honey

I keep searching for kid-friendly snacks around here. And I've found this one. Both my three year-old and one year-old love peanut butter toast. And apples. And honey. So really, this is the perfect toddler friendly-snack. And sometimes even I give it to them for an easy lunch that has protein!

And it's a great alternative to peanut butter and jelly. They're still getting the protein from peanut butter, but instead of the sweetness from store-bought jelly, they're getting fresh fruit from the apples. And you can control how much honey you drizzle on top for sweetness!

Now, this is one of those recipes that isn't really a recipe. Seriously, you take a piece of whole-grain bread, toast it, add a little butter, throw some healthy peanut butter on there (I have a jar of Justin's Peanut Butter at my house), add some apple slices, and squeeze some honey over the top. Super-easy. Super-delicious.

Added bonus? Sydney (our dog) LOVES licking any leftover peanut butter off the plate. So this peanut butter toast is a treat for all of us in the house.

Ingredients

  • 1 slice whole grain bread
  • Butter
  • Peanut Butter
  • Apple
  • Honey

What if I don't want to use peanut butter?

If you don't want to use peanut butter, you can absolutely swap it out for almond butter or your favorite nut butter. If you want a nut-free version, use something like sunflower butter instead.

Vegan version

For a vegan version, leave out the butter and make sure your peanut butter or nut butter is vegan. If you do want sweetness, instead of honey, drizzle with a touch of maple syrup.

Other kid-friendly recipes:

  • Homemade yogurt melts
  • Blueberry oatmeal smoothie
  • Instant Pot chicken risotto

How to make the kid-friendly peanut butter toast:

Making this recipe is so simple.

When slicing the apples, I like to slice in thin slices around the core of the apple. This allows for some pretty slices that are easy to eat and spread on toast.

sliced apples

Then, just toast up your slice of bread, spread the butter on, and then top with the peanut butter.

Add the apples, then drizzle with honey.
