Bang bang salmon is a fun salmon recipe with a sweet and spicy sauce. The salmon gets coated in the bang bang sauce for a flavorful dish. This is a quick recipe that is perfect for a weeknight meal or easy lunch.
Sweet and spicy is one of my favorite combinations. So I absolutely adore bang bang sauce.
While bang bang sauce is commonly used on shrimp, I decided to liven up some salmon with the sauce.
The result? A delicious flaky salmon that was so flavorful. The bang bang sauce gave it that spice and heat, but mellowed out by the sweetness and creaminess of the mayo. So delicious.
Even better? The bang bang salmon is ready in less than 20 minutes! The homemade bang bang sauce is easy to whip up, and the salmon cooks quickly in the oven.
Ingredients
- 4 salmon fillets (4-6 oz each)
- Olive oil
- Paprika
- Mayonnaise
- Sweet chili sauce
- Sriracha
- Lemon juice
How to make bang bang salmon
Preheat your oven to 400 degrees F.
Next, mix together the ingredients for the bang bang sauce in a medium bowl.
Pat salmon dry with paper towels. Place on a foil-lined baking sheet.
Drizzle with olive oil and rub oil into the salmon on all sides. Sprinkle smoked paprika on the salmon fillets and rub in. Season with salt and pepper.
Spoon bang bang sauce over the top of the salmon. (Note - do NOT place the spoon back in the bang bang sauce if it has touched the uncooked salmon). Use a new spoon if needed.

I love the bang bang salmon served on top of some rice.
What is bang bang sauce?
Bang bang sauce is a creamy, sweet, spicy sauce that was popularized by Bonefish Grill. Their bang bang shrimp appetizer is coated in this delicious sauce.
It's typically made with mayonnaise, sweet chili sauce, and sriracha sauce, but can sometimes include other ingredients.
The sauce is creamy from the mayonnaise, has sweetness from the sweet chili sauce, and a kick of heat from the sriracha.
I also love making bang bang potatoes! It's a great use for the bang bang sauce.
Customization ideas
Want to make it spicier? Add a touch of cayenne pepper to the salmon fillets OR add more sriracha to your bang bang sauce.
Squeeze fresh lemon or lime juice over the cooked salmon or add some lemon zest or lime zest.

- Air fryer sesame green beans
- Air fryer shishito peppers

- Cooking time may vary based on the size and thickness of your salmon.
- If you have any leftover bang bang sauce, it can be stored in the refrigerator in an airtight container for up to 7 days.
