Bang bang potatoes are crisped up in the oven and then topped with a delicious spicy sweet bang bang sauce. These oven roasted potatoes make for a delicious and easy side dish.

Creamy spicy sweet. What a wonderful combination. And that's what bang bang sauce is.

And I've found that it's even better when paired with the crispiness of roasted potatoes.

In this recipe for bang bang potatoes, the potatoes get perfectly crisped up in the oven, and then the bang bang sauce is added to the top. So delicious. So easy to make.

For bang bang potatoes, you can use a homemade sauce or store bought. I included the recipe for homemade bang bang sauce, as I prefer to make it myself (It's so easy!)

Ingredients

  • Yellow potatoes (such as Yukon Gold)
  • Olive oil
  • Paprika
  • Salt
  • Garlic Powder

For the homemade bang bang sauce

  • Mayo
  • Sriracha
  • Sweet chili sauce
  • Lemon

What is bang bang sauce?

Bang bang sauce is a mayonnaise based sauce that is a little sweet from the sweet chili sauce, a little spicy from the sriracha, and creamy from the mayo.

It was popularized by Bonefish Grill in their popular bang bang shrimp appetizer.

I love serving it on salmon and making oven baked bang bang salmon.

How to customize

While I love regular paprika on the potatoes, you can substitute out chili powder or use smoked paprika instead.

You can also add your own herbs and spices to the potatoes, depending on how you want them seasoned.

And while I love making homemade bang bang sauce, you can also buy it bottled at the store.

What to serve with the bang bang potatoes

I love serving the bang bang potatoes alongside air fryer crispy chicken, air fryer honey garlic chicken thighs, air fryer pesto salmon, honey sriracha chicken, or ras el hanout chicken thighs.

The bang bang potatoes are also delicious with side dishes like sesame rice, peri peri rice, or air fryer broccolini.

Recipe notes

  • Ovens may cook differently. Pierce a few potatoes with a fork to ensure they are tender on the inside before plating.
  • If you have leftover bang bang sauce, it can be stored in the refrigerator for up to 7 days.
