Ninja Creami mint chocolate chip ice cream is a family favorite! This version is made with fresh mint leaves for authentic flavor and color.

Ninja Creami Mint Chocolate Chip

Mint chocolate chip ice cream is the favorite ice cream of two out of the four members of this house. When I realized I hadn't made a Ninja Creami mint chocolate chip ice cream yet, I couldn't believe it!

So I set out to remedy that quickly. I also decided I wanted to make one with actual mint leaves. No extract or food coloring or anything. This uses cottage cheese to give the ice cream a delicious creaminess.

So yes, the green color comes from the mint leaves. The flavor comes from the mint leaves. And my daughter loved it. And in my book, that's the most important thing since I'm here making these recipes for my family (and you too!)

Ingredients

  • Cottage cheese
  • Milk
  • Sugar
  • Vanilla
  • Mint leaves
  • Chocolate chips or chocolate bar

How to make Ninja Creami mint chocolate chip ice cream

Add all ingredients to a blender except for the chocolate chips/chocolate. Blend together to combine.

Ice cream ingredients and fresh mint in a blender

Pour into your Ninja Creami container and freeze for at least 24 hours on a level surface in your freezer.

Unfrozen ice cream

After freezing, your ice cream may look like this!

Frozen mint ice cream

Process on the ice cream setting. Make a indentation in the middle and add your chopped chocolate chip pieces or chopped chocolate pieces.

Adding chocolate to mint ice cream

Use the mix in feature to incorporate your chocolate, and then scoop out and enjoy! If you want your ice cream slightly more set, return to the freezer for 15-30 minutes before scooping out.

Recipe tips

  • Cut your chocolate chips/pieces into the size you want them to be in your ice cream. The Ninja Creami doesn't really make them any smaller, so if you want small pieces, chop them up to the size you want.
  • Run a little warm water along the outside of the Creami container before processing. This will help unfreeze the very outer layer of ice cream.
  • If you have leftovers, smooth out the top and return to the freezer. You may need to reprocess before enjoying again.

Equipment

  • Ninja Creami

Ingredients

  • 1 cup cottage cheese
  • ¾ cup milk
  • ⅓ cup sugar
  • 3 Tablespoons mint leaves
  • ¼ teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 10 mini chocolate chips (see notes section for tips about size)

Instructions

  • Add all ingredients except for the chocolate to a blender and blend together. Pour into your Ninja Creami container.
  • Freeze on a level surface for at least 24 hours.
  • Run a little warm water along the outside of the Creami container to thaw the outer layer.
  • Process on the ice cream setting. Make a hole/well in the center and add the chopped chocolate. Process again on the mix in setting.
  • Scoop out and enjoy. (If you want the ice cream harder, return to the freezer for 15-30 minutes before scooping out).

Notes

    • Cut your chocolate chips/pieces into the size you want them to be in your ice cream. The Ninja Creami doesn't really make them any smaller, so if you want small pieces, chop them up to the size you want.
    • To measure the mint, I usually just take a ¼ cup measuring cup and fill it ¾s of the way full. That equals 3 Tablespoons.
    • Run a little warm water along the outside of the Creami container before processing. This will help unfreeze the very outer layer of ice cream.
    • If you have leftovers, smooth out the top and return to the freezer. You may need to reprocess before enjoying again.
