Green beans in the air fryer are so delicious. And when you combine them with parmesan cheese? You wind up with something like parmesan green bean fries that you can just eat with a fork, or dip in your favorite dipping sauce.

I love serving the air fryer green beans as a tasty side dish. The parmesan cheese melts and then gets crispy in the air fryer, giving the green beans a cheesy crunch that is so delicious.

Why make this recipe

  • Easy - These air fryer green beans are so easy to make! Simply mix the ingredients together and pop in the air fryer.
  • Quick - The green beans cook up in less than 10 minutes!
  • Delicious - The parmesan cheese melts to create a tasty parmesan crisp on the green beans.
  • Kid-friendly - Doesn't cheese make everything better? Adding cheese to the green beans is a fun way to get the whole family to eat green beans.

Ingredients

  • Green beans
  • Olive oil
  • Parmesan cheese
  • Garlic powder
  • Dried oregano

How to customize

  • Want extra seasonings? Add smoked paprika, harissa, or other dried spices you love.
  • Easily swap out the dried oregano for dried basil or Italian seasoning if you prefer.
  • Not a huge fan of garlic? Use ¼ of a teaspoon instead of ½ a teaspoon.
  • To brighten up the dish, squeeze some fresh lemon juice over the green beans after they come out of the air fryer.
  • Dip the air fryer green beans in a sriracha mayo if you want a dipping sauce.
  • For an added crunch, top with some sliced almonds or toasted panko breadcrumbs.

What to serve with the green beans

I love serving air fryer parmesan green beans with Air Fryer Greek Chicken Thighs, Air Fryer Honey Dijon Chicken, Air Fryer Tuna Patties, Air Fryer Honey Mustard Salmon, or Baked Panko Parmesan Cod.

The green beans are also delicious with other side dishes like Air Fryer Butternut Squash or Air Fryer Delicata Squash.

How to store leftovers:

Leftovers can be stored in the refrigerator in an airtight container for several days. Let the green beans cool before placing in the refrigerator.

To reheat, pop the parmesan green beans back in your air fryer for a couple of minutes or reheat in the oven.

Recipe tips:

  • All air fryers cook differently. Check frequently to see if the green beans are done.
  • You can toss the green beans halfway through cooking, but you don't have to.
  • The parmesan cheese almost forms a bit of a crispy texture in the air fryer. It's delicious, but you can top with extra parmesan cheese.
  • This recipe calls for freshly grated parmesan cheese. I highly recommend picking up a wedge of parmesan cheese to use for this recipe. They can be found at most grocery stores in the specialty cheese section (we get ours at Costco).
