Air fryer buffalo wings cook up perfectly and are the perfect snack! These air fryer chicken wings are delicious and easy to make.
Are buffalo wings the perfect snack? Maybe. They're spicy, bright, vinegary, and just delicious.
I could eat 15 in one sitting. And I have. Maybe more than that. When I was in college, they were a STAPLE in my diet. There were so many restaurants that served them, usually with sports on tvs in the background.
But I had never tried to make buffalo wings at home until I got an air fryer. And now, it's just so easy to do. The air fryer cooks them perfectly and gets them crispy and delicious, while that buffalo coating just makes me lick my fingers every time. I can't help it.
Ingredients
- Chicken wings
- Olive oil
- Paprika
- Garlic powder
- Onion powder
- Buffalo wing sauce
- Salt (optional)
How to make buffalo wings in the air fryer
Preheat air fryer at 400 degrees F for 5 minutes.
In a large bowl combine olive oil, paprika, garlic powder, and onion powder. If the buffalo sauce you are using is salty, skip salt. Otherwise, add a sprinkling of salt as well.
Dry the wing and drum pieces with paper towels.
Add chicken wings to the bowl and stir to coat.
After air fryer is done preheating, add the chicken wings to the air fryer basket in a single layer.
Air fry for 10 minutes at 400 degrees F. Flip and air fry an additional 5 minutes.
Add chicken wings to a large bowl, then add buffalo sauce to coat wings.
Coat wings completely in buffalo sauce, then add back to the air fryer.
Air fry an additional 5-7 minutes.
Plate and serve as desired. I topped mine with blue cheese crumbles. You can also add more buffalo sauce to coat the chicken wings if desired.
What kind of buffalo sauce to use
You can make your own homemade buffalo sauce using hot sauce, vinegar, butter, and seasonings. However, it's easy to buy buffalo wing sauce at the store these days.
You can choose between mild, medium, and hot in most cases, depending on how spicy you want your buffalo wings.
How to serve the air fried buffalo wings
I love to serve the buffalo wings with a sprinkling of blue cheese crumbles. You can of course serve with a blue cheese dressing, and many love serving with Ranch dressing for dipping.
Recipe tips
- If you have full chicken wings, you will want to separate the drum from the wingette piece before cooking.
- Don't skip the step of patting the wings dry with paper towels. This helps the chicken skin to crisp up more.
- Add more buffalo sauce to brush onto the chicken wings after cooking if desired.
