The other day my husband bought 2 giant packages of russet potatoes. We used some of them for mashed potatoes, but the rest were just sitting here. Waiting to be used. So aha! Let's air fry these potatoes.

They were giant and I didn't want to do baked potatoes and have them take forever, so instead I sliced them into rounds to make sort of a potato chip. Thicker and less crispy though. So we'll just call them air fried potato slices.

Even though they aren't super crispy like potato chips, these potato slices were delicious and still perfect for dipping into a delicious sauce!

Ingredients

  • Russet potatoes
  • Olive oil
  • Smoked paprika
  • Garlic powder
  • Onion powder
  • Salt

How to make sliced potatoes in the air fryer

Preheat air fryer for 5 minutes at 400 degrees F. Wash and scrub your potatoes and then slice into ¼ inch wide rounds. Place in a large bowl. Add the olive oil and seasonings.

Add potato slices to the air fryer basket. It's okay if they overlap some. You'll toss them several times during cooking.

Uncooked potato slices in air fryer basket

Cook at 400 degrees for 20-25 minutes, tossing every 5 minutes.

Customization ideas

The potato slices are so easy to customize! You can switch up the seasonings with whatever you like. If you want it spicy, add some cayenne or red pepper flakes. It you want them herby, add dried parsley, thyme, or oregano.

You can even turn them into loaded potato slices! Simply add cheese and back and pop back in the air fryer for a couple of minutes for the cheese to melt. Then dollop with sour cream or serve on the side if you're into that.

Dipping sauces

  • Harissa mayo
  • Honey mustard bbq sauce
  • Calabrian mayo
  • Peri peri mayo
  • Homemade chipotle mayo

How to store and reheat leftovers

Leftover potato slices can be stored in an airtight container in the refrigerator for 3-4 days. To reheat, simply place back in the air fryer and reheat for a couple of minutes.
