Air fryer pigs in a blanket are easy to make and cook up so quickly! These little treats make the perfect appetizer or snack.
Pigs in a blanket are one of my favorite party foods. They're easy to pick up, easy to transport, and both kids and adults love them!
So of course, I had to do an air fryer version. The pigs in a blanket cook up so quickly in the air fryer and are incredibly easy to make. And because it uses canned crescent rolls and lil smokies, it's a quick 2 ingredient recipe.
I love making these mini pigs in a blanket, because they really are perfect for parties. This recipe makes 24 pigs in a blanket, so lots to feed everyone!
Ingredients
- Package of crescent rolls - You'll need one can of refrigerated crescent rolls.
- Lil smokies - Make sure to get a package that has at least 24 lil smokies (most do).
- Egg (optional) - You will only need an egg if you decide to do an egg wash (I don't think it's necessary)
How to make pigs in a blanket in the air fryer
Roll out the sheet of crescent dough onto a surface you can cut on. Separate into the 8 triangles.
Cut each of the triangles into 3 smaller triangles. The triangles will be long and thin. This should create a total of 24 triangles.
Preheat the air fryer for 5 minutes at 350 degrees F.
Pat the little smokies dry, then roll each up in one of the crescent triangles, starting with the wide end and rolling to the point.
Place the pigs in a blanket in the air fryer basket. (You will likely need to cook in 2 or 3 batches, depending on the size of your air fryer).
Cook at 350 degrees F for 5-6 minutes.
Plate and enjoy!
Recipe tips
- I have found that my pigs in a blanket will sometimes stick to my air fryer basket. So I prefer to use air fryer parchment paper or spray the basket before adding the pigs in a blanket to prevent sticking.
- When adding the pigs in a blanket to the air fryer basket, make sure to leave a little room for the crescent dough to expand when cooking.
- All air fryers cook differently. Watch carefully and adjust cooking times as needed.
- While you can do an egg wash on the top of the crescent rolls, I have never found it to be necessary.
Dipping sauce ideas
The pigs in a blanket are delicious on their own, but I love them even more with a dipping sauce. Here are a few of my favorites.
- Honey mustard bbq sauce - This is my favorite honey mustard sauce.
- Chipotle mayo - When you want a little bit of a smoky mayo.
- Calabrian mayo - Spicy and bright.
- Peri peri mayo - Also spicy and delicious.
- Cumin ketchup with lime - Flavorful with lime and cumin flavors.
Customization ideas
You can customize these air fryer pigs in a blanket in so many ways.
You can add in a tiny bit of cheese with the little smokies when rolling up to make it a cheesy pig in the blanket. You could also add a little slice of jalapeno for spice!
You could also top the mini pigs in a blanket with some poppyseeds. Or brush a little honey on top for a sweet-savory vibe.
But one of my favorite things to do is add some everything bagel seasoning to the top of the pigs in a blanket. It gives it just that extra bit of flavor! If you do this, add the seasoning BEFORE cooking. And enjoy! Try these everything bagel pigs in a blanket.
