Air fryer brussels sprouts come out crispy and delicious! These shredded brussels sprouts cook perfectly and are the perfect healthy side dish to make in your air fryer.
I love making air fryer brussels sprouts. And when you shred them up, they just cook perfectly. The bigger pieces get tender, but those parts of the leaves that come off get all roasted and caramelized and crispy.
These air fryer shredded brussels sprouts are a delicious side dish or addition to salads and grain bowls! They are the perfect side dish any time of year, but especially in those fall months.
And if you make them for Thanksgiving or Christmas, they are easy and add a nice healthy green pop to your plate!
Ingredients:
- Brussels sprouts (shredded or whole)
- Olive oil
- Salt
- Pepper
How to shred brussels sprouts:
You can buy pre-shredded brussel sprouts in a bag from many grocery stores. It saves on time, as you won't need to shred them yourself.
However, if you have whole brussels sprouts, you can shred them yourself. The first option is to use a sharp knife to slice them thinly. You could also use a mandoline.
Another option - if you have a food processor, I highly recommend using the shredding attachment on your food processor! It's so easy and quick to use.
Can you use frozen brussels sprouts?
Yes, you can use frozen brussels sprouts. However, you will want to shred the brussel sprouts before adding to your air fryer basket (if not already shredded). You also may need to adjust cooking times and cook for a little longer.
Customizations:
- For a little spice, toss with some red pepper flakes.
- Add whatever seasonings you love when tossing with the olive oil (before cooking). Garlic powder, smoked paprika, or lemon pepper are all delicious options.
- For a little acidity, toss with a little red wine vinegar, balsamic vinegar, or apple cider vinegar.
How to serve:
The crispy brussels sprouts can be topped with fresh parmesan cheese, drizzled with balsamic vinegar, or finished with a squeeze of fresh lemon juice or lime juice.
The air fryer brussels sprouts can also be used in grain bowls, salads, or used to top pasta. The cooked sprouts add a nice roasted flavor to dishes.
And they are delicious as a side dish! The roasted brussels sprouts pair nicely with air fryer chili lime chicken thighs, air fryer crispy chicken, and air fryer honey mustard salmon.
Recipe tips:
- All air fryers cook differently. Check frequently for doneness.
- While you can add a lot of brussels sprouts to your air fryer basket, do not overly crowd the basket and make sure to shake a couple of times while cooking.
