Waffles with whipped cream, chocolate syrup, and sprinkles.

Who doesn't love frozen waffles? If you've arrived here, you're probably a waffle lover like myself. We make them all the time. But guess what? I don't have a toaster. Now I use the air fryer for everything! And making waffles in the air fryer is so easy.

And usually, my kids love the frozen Eggo waffles. While we use different brands too, the Chocolate Chip Eggo Frozen Waffles are the current favorite in our house. These instructions should work for most brands of frozen waffles!

Topping ideas

  • In the photos, I topped my waffles with some chocolate syrup, whipped cream, and sprinkles! It was delicious and perfect for dessert.
  • You can add the classic maple syrup.
  • You can top with caramelized bananas like I make in my bananas foster french toast.
  • You can spread some homemade strawberry whipped butter on top.
  • You can top with fresh fruit.

Why cook frozen waffles in an air fryer

Okay, I know what you're thinking. Why would you make frozen waffles in the air fryer when they are so easy in the toaster?

Well, while the toaster DOES make cooking waffles easy, there are a few reasons why you might choose your air fryer instead. In this case, it's great to know how to do it!

First, maybe you don't have a toaster or your toaster is broken. This happened to us. Our toaster broke and it's nice to have an alternative way to make waffles! (Note- we DID get a new toaster eventually).

Maybe you just like to stick with one appliance. I know how that goes. I have a lot of appliances, and only a few of them get the precious counter space. My air fryer is always on my counter, but other appliances aren't, and it's a pain to have to pull them out.

And maybe you want to make more waffles at a time. Depending on the size of your air fryer, you can cook 4 or more waffles in your air fryer at a time!

FAQs

Do you need to preheat your air fryer to make frozen waffles?

No, the air fryer should not be preheated when cooking frozen waffles in your air fryer.

Do you need to flip the waffles while cooking?

Yes, to make sure the waffles are cooked properly and brown evenly on both sides, flip after 3 minutes of cook time.

Do different brands cook differently?

Different brands can cook slightly differently. Your waffles should be toasted and hot when removing from the air fryer. However, most of the time these instructions should work for any brand.

If you are cooking a thicker waffle like a Belgian waffle, you will likely need to add a few minutes to the cook time to make sure waffles are cooked through and hot in the center.
