Ingredients
- Grapefruit
- Brown sugar
- Flaky sea salt (optional)
Why make grapefruit in the air fryer?
I love broiled grapefruit. When the sugar gets heated up and caramelized. But I don't always want to turn on my oven. So if I have my air fryer out, I use that instead!
- Doesn't require heating up your whole oven.
- Easy and quick!
- The sugar gets nicely caramelized, adding a sweetness to an otherwise bitter grapefruit.
What to serve with the broiled grapefruit
Broiled grapefruit pairs nicely with so many breakfast items! I love balancing out the sweetness of the grapefruit with something savory. I love making scrambled eggs with spinach, feta scrambled eggs, or air fryer breakfast potatoes.
How to store half a grapefruit
If you decide to only cook half of the grapefruit, simply slice the grapefruit in half and wrap the half that you're not broiling tightly in plastic wrap. Store in the refrigerator for 1-3 days.
Recipe tips
- I love to either use a grapefruit spoon to eat my grapefruit and/or cut out the segments with a knife prior to adding the sugar. This allows for a much easier time eating the grapefruit! Just go around each segment until it loosens, but leave it in the grapefruit.
- All air fryers cook differently, you may need to adjust cooking times based on your air fryer.
- May need more/less brown sugar depending on size of grapefruit.
- The sea salt is optional, but does add a nice extra flavor and depth to the grapefruit. You could also add a sprinkling of ground cinnamon to your grapefruit for extra flavor!
