I used to make spaghetti squash in the oven. No longer! Now I use my air fryer to make spaghetti squash. It comes out perfect and delicious. And there are so many ways to use it! Spaghetti squash boats, as a pasta replacement, or just used as a tasty side dish.

Why cook spaghetti squash in the air fryer

Quicker than the oven - Cooking spaghetti squash in the air fryer is so much faster than making it in the oven.

Comes out perfectly roasted - Due to the circulation of air in the air fryer, the spaghetti squash comes out perfectly roasted.

Easy - It's so easy! After oil and seasonings, you pop your spaghetti squash into the air fryer, flip once, and that's it!

I also love making spaghetti squash in my air fryer when I want to free up my oven space for cooking something else. Especially since spaghetti squash takes so long to roast in the oven.

Ingredients

  • Spaghetti squash
  • Olive oil

Recipe tips

  • Make sure you choose a spaghetti squash small enough to fit in your air fryer basket!
  • All air fryers cook differently. Test your spaghetti squash for doneness and cook a little longer if needed.

How to use air fried spaghetti squash

Air fryer spaghetti squash can be used in so many different ways once it comes out of the air fryer!

You can simply fluff the squash with a fork to form spaghetti strands, then top with alfredo sauce and some parmesan cheese.

Recently I made air fryer cheesy stuffed spaghetti squash where I added some sauce and topped with mozzarella cheese. So good!

And of course, you can simply remove from the air fryer and use the spaghetti squash as a replacement for pasta. I love it topped with bolognese sauce.

Where to find spaghetti squash

Spaghetti squash is a winter squash which means it's typically found in the fall and winter months. Most grocery stores carry spaghetti squash and you'll find it in the same section as butternut squash, acorn squash, etc.

How to make spaghetti squash easier to cut in half

Protip! If you have a hard time cutting spaghetti squash in half, here's a way to make it easier. Simply poke the spaghetti squash all over with a fork, then cook in the microwave for 3-5 minutes. The spaghetti squash will still be uncooked, but slightly easier to get your knife through before air frying or roasting.

I actually like to split my cooking by microwaving cut side down for 10 minutes and then finish in the air fryer for another 10 cut side up. The air fryer gives a more nutty taste to the squash but for me was a bit drying if done the whole time in fryer. Times depend on squash size and thickness.
