Air fryer puff pastry makes the perfect dessert! Cook puff pastry in the air fryer and serve with different toppings for an easy and delicious treat.
If you've been around here awhile, you know how much I love easy recipes that taste amazing. Easy meals, easy desserts, easy drinks. And when I thought about cooking puff pastry in my air fryer, I wondered how it would taste.
Verdict? Amazing. And so easy to make. I decided to lean into the beignet vibes by dusting with powdered sugar. I decided to lean into sopapilla vibes by drizzling honey over the top. And I do not regret either of those decisions.
Will I be making this again and again? Yes and yes.
I will likely be playing around with other toppings (ideas below). The air fried puff pastry would pair beautifully with some fresh fruit or fruit compote and I'm already dreaming of another 1000 ways to top it (though the honey and powdered sugar combo is already a 10/10).
Ingredients
- Puff pastry
- Milk or egg
- Powdered Sugar
- Honey (optional)
What to serve with the air fried puff pastry
I love topping these with powdered sugar and a drizzle of honey. It almost reminds me of a beignet or sopapilla.
However, you could top the puff pastry with some berry compote, some whipped strawberry butter or brown sugar butter or some cinnamon whipped cream.
The pastry squares would also be delicious topped with some air fried apples.
Can you make desserts with puff pastry?
Absolutely! I've made air fryer puff pastry tarts, air fryer pumpkin pinwheels, and you can also make apple turnovers, air fried jam turnovers and a variety of other delicious desserts using puff pastry in the air fryer.
Recipe notes
- While you can make this with an entire sheet of puff pastry, you can also just do this with leftovers if you have leftover puff pastry. Sometimes I will just do this with 2 or 3 rectangles.
- All air fryers cook differently. Watch carefully to make sure your puff pastry is getting brown and golden, but not burned.
How to make air fryer puff pastry
Thaw puff pastry according to the package directions. Then, cut into 6 rectangles.
Brush one side with either milk or egg wash.
Place as many as will fit in your air fryer basket in a single layer, milk/egg side down, and brush the other side with the milk or egg.
Air fry at 350 degrees F for 6-7 minutes, then flip and air fry for an additional 3 minutes.
Plate, then top with powdered sugar or other toppings!
Look at that puff!
I love adding a drizzle of honey. So much yum.
